The powertrain control module (PCM) uses that reading along with other sensor parameters to ensure proper fuel delivery at any given time for optimum power and fuel efficiency. The MAF sensor itself only measures a portion of the air entering and that value is used to calculate the total volume and density of air being ingested. The MAF (mass air flow) sensor is a sensor mounted in a vehicle's engine air intake tract downstream from the air filter, and is used to measure the volume and density of air being drawn into the engine. Although generic, the specific repair steps may vary depending on make/model. Brands include but are not limited to Ford, Mercedes, Peugeot, Toyota, Honda, Citroen, Nissan, VW, Jeep, Chevrolet, Dodge, etc. This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is a generic powertrain code, which means that it applies to OBD-II equipped vehicles that have a mass airflow sensor. Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Intermittent/Erratic What does that mean? Sometimes it's 5 minutes, sometimes 10, but it does always eventually do it.P0104 Mass Air Flow MAF Circuit Intermittent Technical Description I can always count on it stalling if I leave the car idling for a bit though. Sometimes when I get off the highway it will stall as soon as I start to slow down, or come to the first stop. I can actually have it running while giving it some gas, and it will be rough running, and I'll clear the code with the car running, and the idle smooths out instantly. If I clear the code, it starts right back up and drives perfectly fine for a while, but while the code is up, the car barely/wont run.

Tried a used MAF, didn't work, so I put a brand new one. I did a tune up, replaced the plugs, wires, etc. If you try starting it up, it will stall immediately, unless you give it quite a bit of gas. It'll pretty much always come on if the car idles for more than a few minutes, and it'll stall. Mass air flow sensor was changed, and it doesn't help. I've got a 2002 Chevy Impala, 3.4L, and it randomly stalls with code P0101. Hey guy's, hopefully someone here can help.
